Hi all:
Just wanted to mention one of my 416-8b's now sounds like a kazoo and sure enough it the voice coil now rubs with the slightest deflection at the dustcap.
I figure this happened today when I switched to the phono input of my 2270 Marantz receiver whereupon the loudest motorboating sound came out of one channel, I could see the woofer cone doing a 30 or so Hz rapid high-amplitude oscillation. Too late. had to be the phono board in the rcvr. as the other inputs were fine, and the turntable was fine on other electronics. Must be a cap gone south.
Back to the Mac pre and power.
I figure it needs a trip to Bill H. at GPA for a recone and remag, correct?
He did fine work with one of my 604c's.
Gives me an opportunity to try the 515-8G's with the new 100 sq. in. port size.
Just thought I'd whine.
